Neck/body joint
When searching for an easy yet stable solution for the neck-body joint I was struck by the idea to prolongate the neck as far as the fingerboard runs. The new joint is made by routing a slot into the top which takes the neck - or to be more precise: just the middle section. A rather simple support on the inside directs the occuring force towards the lower end of the neck block. Advantage: less weakness at the body-neck joint, the portion of the fingerboard which lies over the soundboard is more stable than before.
I can afford to omit the neck heel. Advantage: the thumb can move up to the body. This facilitates stopping over the soundboard.

It's still possible to use a neck heel for esthetical reasons.

Or more slender, because it's function is only optical. |
